Activity 3:

Today’s science lab activity, has to be with the understanding of the germination process, we will develop an easy and fun “Growing Beans” experiment.

You will need:

A Plastic or glass jar
Cotton wool
A bean
Water

Directions:
  • Indoor growing is a visual way to teach us about  the germination process and root systems.
  • Place the cotton wool into the base of the jar; place the bean/s between the cotton wool and the side of the jar.
  • Water the bean making sure the cotton wool is damp but not too wet.
  • Place the jar in the window.
  • Remember ….. Keep the cotton wool damp.
  • Within 2-3 days the bean will start to sprout a small root and 2-3 days later it will grow little tendrils. Another 4-5 days and the bean will develop a large network of shoots coming off the main root and a sturdy stem.

Top tips for parents:
  • Help your child to measure the growth each day and keep a written record with drawings or photographs.
  •  Draw pictures, label parts of the plant.
  • Ask your child lots of questions; “What do plants need to grow”? “How do plants absorb water”? “What are the leaves for”? Discuss life cycles and growth.

Hello Kids and Parents

Welcome back to the Science virtual class

As a warm-up, we are going to see a video about the body parts to enrich your vocabulary

After the warm up, we are going to develop the pages attached of the guides you have at home

Page 1

Materials:
  • Pencil colours or markers
  • Pencil

Page 2

Materials:

  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Pecil colours

Activity 3:
After developing our guides we will make this page of our workbook

My favorite food is pizza, so here you got a video of the recipe

Activity 4:
After developing the page of the workbook, we will explore the sense of taste with this activity:

We are going to collect the following materials at home:
  • a scarf (to cover our eyes)
  • 5 small containers, they can be cups of tea or sauce
  • two teaspoons of salt
  • two of sugar
  • two of cocoa powder
  • two of pepper
  • two lemon wedges.
When we have the materials ready we will place each ingredient in a container on a flat surface, it can be the dining room table or a table where the child can sit in front of them blindfolded to taste them, being aware of the reactions produced in the tongue when trying them, describing them while they test (is it sweet, sour, bitter, salty, spicy?)

Hello Kids and Parents

Welcome back to the Science virtual class

As a warm-up, we are going to see a video about the ear parts to enrich your vocabulary and identify the parts of the ear to develop our workbook

First hour 10:45-12:30 pm

After the warm up, we are going to develop the pages attached of the workbook you have at home

For the first page you also have this image to guide

When we finish our workbook pages, we will develop our own cup telephone

Meterials needed
  • 2  plastic or paper cups
  • 20 feet of string
  • Sharpened Pencil
  • 2 Paper clips (optional)
To make your own cup phones, use the tip of a pencil to poke a small hole at the bottom of each of your two cups.
Next, thread the string through the hole of one cup.  We just tied a knot in the yarn on the inside of the cup to keep it in place.  If the string keeps slipping through the hole you can tie it to a paper clip to help keep it in place.
Pull the string through the bottom of your second cup, securing it with an knot on the inside, too.  (See photo above.)
To use your cup phones the string must be kept taut.  When one person whispers in their cup, the other should be able to hear their voice through their own cup, being aware of the sense of ear!

Second hour 1:30-2:00 pm
We are going to see a video about the germination process to enrich your vocabulary and understand it to develop our guide

Date: 3th June  2020

Hello Kids and Parents

Welcome back to the Science virtual class

Today we are going to see a video about the Digestive system and the Osseous  system to enrich your vocabulary and identify the parts to develop our workbook pages

First hour 10:45-12:30 pm

This is the image you print to cut paste and write the names of our skeletal system

Digestive System Science Activity

It’s hard for kids to understand the way the processes inside the body work, it becomes a little easier when you make it a hands on activity that lets them involve more parts of their brain.  This Digestive System Science project is disgustingly fun, just the way they like it.

You will need:

A zippered plastic sandwich bag
A piece of bread
Soda
Small plastic cup
Permanent marker

Directions:
This project is going to demonstrate how our stomach acids break down the food we eat and help it to move through our digestive system.  The bag is your “stomach”, the soda is your “stomach acid” and the bread your food of course.
Label the bag stomach with a permanent marker, you can even draw a rough likeness of what it actually looks like if you care to.
Label your cup of soda- stomach acid.
Together we will understand what each piece represents, and that our stomach contains acid to help break down our food.
You will pour couple tablespoons of soda into the bag.
Now add the bread.
Close the bag.
Shake and knead the contents.
Watch how the bread breaks down and becomes nearly a liquid itself.
Discussion Questions-
How does food make it down into your stomach?
Why is it important to chew your food first ?
What makes the bread break down?
What happens next in the process?
Where is your stomach located?
What types of food are harder to digest?
We are going to do this page
